We have a Canon MG6150 Printer and Scanner which is on our network and I can print to it fine. However, periodically I can this annoying problem where I can't scan to it.
It shows as online, and shows as a valid scanner but when I go to the Windows Fax & Scan app and click scan I get the following error.
After A LOT of hunting around I found out a fix. It's bizarre but works.
- Go to: C:/Windows/System32/driverstore/FileRepository/sti.inf_xxxxxxx (where x can be many different things)
- Right-click -> copy the file "usbscan.sys"
- Go to: C/Windows/System32/drivers
- Right-click -> paste (replace existing file)
- Restart your computer
After you have done this you will be able to scan again. I do still get the error every now and then, but I just repeat the above and it works fine.
